Understanding Pricing
What items are included in the rental price? What optional items could increase the final price? How will the rental price change depending on your length of hire? – Read on to find answers to these and other questions.
Number of Days
When booking your campervan, prices are based on the number of days rather than a 24-hour time frame which is used when you hire a rental car. For camper hire, the day you collect your campervan is day 1 - the time of day you collect it is not a factor, it is simply day 1.
Minimal Rental Requirement
During the peak holiday periods, campervan companies may have a ‘minimum rental requirement’ of 7, 10 or 14 days for particular campervans and motorhomes.
If there is a minimum rental requirement of 7 days and you select only 5 days, the price displayed will be the 7-day price due to the minimum rental requirement. You are welcome to travel for only 5 days, but you will be paying the price for 7 days. If this occurs, you will see the offer of extra days available, and you are welcome to change your dates from 5 to 7 days for the same price - subject to availability.
What is Included in the Price
Your final campervan price will include the rental cost, standard basic liability insurance option, living equipment (sheets, duvets or blankets, pillows, pillow-cases, towels), kitchen equipment (cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, cooking equipment), unlimited kilometres (except 4WD campers), on-road assistance helpline and GST.
Inclusions and exclusions will vary between campervan companies. Some may include an additional-driver cost, gas refill or picnic table and chairs. Once you are booking on DriveNow and have selected a vehicle, you will be able to view what is included and what is excluded.
One Way Journey
One-way journeys may have a ‘minimum rental requirement’. This rule applies so you can travel long distances safely and at your leisure.
For example, Sydney to Perth has a minimum rental requirement of 14 days and Cairns to Perth has a 28 day minimum rental requirement. This is due to the distance and the estimated driving time for the journey.
On most occasions, the campervan companies will charge a one-way fee unless there is a special promotion offered for that itinerary
